The name of the Baptist church comes from the Greek word baptizoo, baptized.

The central question of the movement, which originated in the 16th century, was: Child baptism or adult baptism?

 

This early stage of the movement dates back to the baptismal movements of the 16th century, when the vision was born: The real church is made up only of people who have received personal revival as adults and have been baptized since then.

Separatists were not tolerated in 17th-century England, so Baptists had to flee the country. America offered them asylum and the freedom to practice their religion.

Today, Baptism is the largest Protestant church in the United States. The message of the church, free-form worship, and spiritual music also appealed  black population. The most famous American Baptist priest is probably Martin Luther King.

The Baptists have never accepted the state church system.

They also have no official creed.  The Bible is Christian,  church and doctrine  the highest authority according to the Protestant tradition.

They hold the priesthood of all believers. There is a priest in the church, but in principle the church can function without a priest.

Baptists recognize the two sacraments, baptism and communion. The Lord's Supper is symbolically understood as a commemoration of Jesus' death and is experienced symbolically  The presence of Jesus with the church.

In addition to services, the church includes Bible districts, girls 'and boys' clubs, prayer meetings  and Sunday schools on Sundays.

In Finland, Baptists first started their activities in Åland in 1856 Today, there are about 1,400 Baptists in Finland. 60 million worldwide.
