ORTHODOX CHURCH BUILDING

Hagia Sophia is the most famous Byzantine building style  representative in the world. It has served as a model for countless Orthodox churches. It was built by the Byzantine emperor Justinian in 537. The church has had a multi-phase history. Today it is a mosque, as the minarets show as outbuildings.

Tampere Orthodox Church is a neo-Byzantine cruciform church with a high central dome. The roof of the church has seven flame-shaped domes depicting the seven sacraments of this church. Above the entrance is a bell tower with nine bells, the largest of which weighs 4,973 pounds.
